Soft Corral (for Central Park)

1997 & 2015

Proposal for Central Park, NYC, or any urban park. Up until the early 1900s sheep grazed on the Sheep Meadow in Central Park and were housed in what is now the Tavern on the Green. This proposal revives the original pastoral folly while still allowing for contemporary park uses. Volunteers would tend the sheep, clean up after them and move the corral as needed. Corral could be installed in the Sheep Meadow, or wheeled through any part of the park, molding its shape to travel through a variety of terrain and circumstances.
